Byzantine Watch Kit

I found this pretty easy to do, attaching the watch face was a bit challenging. I found that it was easier to use the Eurotool Chainnose Pliers that I bought on this site. They come to a very small point and I thought it had more control than the spring tool. I also have made this as a bracelet and have someone who wants me to make it as a choker. Thanks Aislyn!!

I really enjoyed creating this watch kit. I can see so many more uses for the Byzantine chain than I had considered.

The kit was awesome and challenging! The tool that is included makes it so much easier to make up the links. The hardest part is attaching the watch face. It took several tries. The end result is a beautiful watch that I love to wear!

Loved this kit. Easy to follow instructions, had everything I needed and enough rings left over to make a pair of earrings. I wear my watch every day!!!

this kit produces a really beautiful watch! i made one for myself with a watch head i already owned, & it's fantastic. now i'm making one for my mother-in-law, who saw it & has to have it. it's comfortable, eye-catching, & fun to weave!

This bracelet is MUCH better in person and I've gotten a ton of compliments on it. I teach the Byzantine weave (using YOUR class instructions) and when I wore it to class 2 students ordered the kit from you. I did find that it's easier to trust the instructions you've given and not think about it too much. THANKS for a wonderful kit!!!

I have lusted after this watch for quite awhile! FINALLY received it for Christmas from my hubby. Brownie points for him! Love the watch and receive compliments galore. The hardest part IS attaching the watch face. It's worth the deep breaths and effort though!

This watch compliments everything from jeans to dress. It was a joy to put together and I sold it right off my wrist the first day I wore it! Am ordering another--I am sure the first of many.

This was the first more advanced kit I did after the beginner kits and the Byzantine Rose Kits which were very easy. I found it easy probably because Aislyn's directions are so good. I really enjoyed putting this watch together. Then my husband took it to work and sold it to one of his co-workers for a Valentine's Day present. Considering what he got for it I shouldn't complain and I ordered another kitpack.

This is such a beautiful piece, it was a pleasure to make it. I kept putting it on my wrist as I was making it and thinking what an oppulent piece this was, and planning to make it with Goldies rings. How rich girl could I get. Just one suggestion to people getting this kit

Even prettier than I'd expected. I LOVE it! I agree with one of the reviewers that attaching the watch face is the most difficult part. I found that using 26g wire instead of floss to keep all those pesky little rings from flying everywhere during the attachment phase worked really well. (Kept them sitting horizontal.) I am extremely happy with my purchase. Love it, love it!!!

after learning the basic byzantine I lusted for this watch kit for months - finally I ordered one, and then ended up ordering a second to make a gift for a friend. Great kits and top quality product!!!

This took me longer than making the Byzantine Bracelet, but still went together surprisingly quick. The thing that took me the longest was finding that darn spring pin (after a few failed attempts, I nearly lost it in a box of ornaments)! If I decide to do another one (my sister hasn't seen it yet, so we'll see), I will *definitely* buy the spring bar tool. Also, the tip someone left here about using thin wire to keep the tiny rings in place was invaluable. I used wire I stripped from some holiday ribbon. This is a beautiful watch. It looks so different on a wrist than 2 dimensional. :)

This watch is absolutely beautiful. I used gold rings for the center and it added so much depth. I had someone interesting in purchasing on the first day! It is a little bugger to get the pin in, but you are home free after that!

Aislyn, just wanted you to know I finished the watch kit this evening (just a few days after receiving it - I can't believe how quickly I receive everything) and the picture does NOT do it justice. It is gorgeous and I will be ordering several others in the near future since it looks like I will be taking orders for Christmas! Thanks so much for a superior product!

I got this kit thinking I would make the watch, but a friend liked the pattern enough that she asked me if I could just make a bracelet, since she had plenty of watches. I said I would try, and it came out just wonderful. Lesson learned, expand and create.

I had bought the kit to make at home, but in the last minute I grabed it to take with me on a long drive. The car broke down, so in the more than 4 hours I had to wait for help, I put together the watch chain-in the back seat-with large trucks driving by. The only thing I didn't do there was the pins. I will not say it was easy, but that was no fault of the kit. If I could do it in the back seat, anyone can do it. It is so cool.

This is absolutely gorgeous! It worked up so fast. I chose the sterling watch head. I don't know if was exceptionally lucky, but I got the pins in, in two tries. This kit is a must.

WOW!!! ONCE I GOT THE WEAVE IN MY HEAD IT WENT WELL UNTIL I GOT TO ATTACHING RINGS ON THE BAR. THE HINT TO STRING THEM ON FLOSS IS A MUST. GOT IT THE SECOND TIME. THIS KIT IS ONE OF THE PRETTIEST THAT YOU OFFER. THIS KIT IS A MUST!!!!!!!!

WOW!! This was my first purchase from Urban Maille and now I am hooked. I bought this kit as a gift to myself for my 40th Birthday and I am totally thrilled. My only complaint is that it only took me two hours to make it up and the thrill was over too quickly. Even though I am in Australia I will be placing more orders soon. I recommend this watch to anyone it is so elegant and beautiful to wear. THANK YOU!

I bought this kit over a year ago before there was a choice of watch heads (I think). It came time to replace the watch head and I opted to buy the sterling one. Best choice!!! Not only is it beautiful, but the shape of the attachment part makes it a piece of cake to attach the pin with all the tiny rings. It took me forever to do it with the original watch head that I had. With the sterling one it took less than one minute for each pin. Well worth the extra money!! Also it makes a fantastically beautiful bracelet when using a lovely clasp instead of a watch. I cannot recommend it too highly.

I am absolutely delighted with the watch kit. The results are stunning. I'm glad I got Argentium rings for the kit so as to minimize the need to remove the band for tumbling. I do have a suggestion for assembly. I had a very difficult time attaching the watch face to the band while half the band was dangling from the pin. To help with this, I detached the double pin rings and the single ring connectors from each half of the band, added those to both end of each pin and then reconnected the bands. That way I was only working with four 3 ring units instead of several inches of dangling chain. ( I also used the dental floss trick suggested by a previous reviewer.) Thanks again for this stunning project.

I decided to make this as a bracelet and not a watch strap. The packaging and instructions were wonderful as normal. The instructions were clear and well explained. Linking the second end of the Byzantine segments was a little tricky and took some practice, but I soon found a technique that was easy for me and the clear instructions really shone through at this stage. The finished bracelet looks fantastic and I have had many compliments. My only problem is not having enough wrists to wear all my Urban Maille bracelets at one time. I will have to start on the necklaces now - what a hardship :-) The bracelet is weighty and feels wonderfully elegant on the wrist. A BIG thumbs up from me, another wonderful kit - I love it :-)
