I thought this would be a very difficult necklace to make even though I am quite familiar with Byzantine. The instructions were clearly written and easy to follow. I organized all my links and went to town. While it did take me awhile to make it, it went together very easily. Thanks again for another great kit!
Aislyn, your designs are getting better and better and I didn't think that was possible. Because of all the work you put into the directions makes even difficult designs easy. I love it and have received so many compliments. The Bold Graduated Byzantine kit is all I have left of your fantastic designs. Can't wait for you to finish your advanced weaves. I've seen weaves that I've learned from you in magazines and have a problem understanding what they are doing and I know the weave already. Can't thank you enough for everything you do for us. The first time I wore this necklace I got two orders from friends: one for the graduated necklace, and one for a necklace made from only the smallest rings in the kit. I can't wait to get started on these!
Great instructions and the finished project is beautiful! Easy to put together if you know Byzantine, in fact the most tedious part was counting out the rings for each section.

I received the kit for Christmas. I was a little concerned about working with the smallest rings in this kit but since I had completed the byzantine bracelet earlier the necklace was easy to finish. A beautiful necklace and terrific instructions as always.
I admit I was a little nervous about this project as I had never done any maille work (I had done a few bead projects) I also did not know the weave but looked it up on the internet. The instructions were perfect and I completed the project in just a few evenings after work. I will definately try more of your projects. The quality of every thing was impeccable. I did buy the Lindstrom pliers and they were worth the money. Thanks for a great product.

The transitions actually look smooth! I’ve tried something like this myself before, but it didn’t come out right. You really need all the extra ring sizes in the kit. My wife is gonna love it!

I have been longing for both Graduated Byzantine patterns since I first saw them in 2005, around the time of my first order with Urban Maille. But, Life happened, as it does, and chainmaille went on the back burner for a long while. I’ve recently gotten back into it, still LOVE it, and decided I was going to finally get these! I’m so glad! I have seen some copycat patterns out there, but if you know what you’re looking at, you can tell there’s no real competition in the attention to detail with UM’s patterns. I purchased and assembed this necklace for my wife for our 1st anniversary a couple of years ago. She isn't one to wear ornate jewelery, but this necklace is simple, yet stunning enough that she loves it and has worn it countless times, and always gets compliments. The design, the instructions, and quality of your rings is top notch. Yours are by far the best quality rings I have found. And your packaging makes it such a pleasure to open. This is my fourth kit, and I have done several byzantines as when people see it, they have to have one. I love the necklace as it tapers nicely, has nice weight and sparkle and does not look like anything anyone else has! The smaller weaves were a bit more challenging, but the directions were super clear, and there were no errors as long as you took some care with a few counts. Love it! I expect a few complements!
Just finished the graduated byzantine necklace - wow!! It is so beautiful. The directions were great - you must focus though. I finished it in 8 hours, using the speed weave method. Would recommend it to everyone!!
I bought this to make for my sister in law, but it was so beautiful I kept it for myself. I thought the directions were very clear, and the rings were the highest quality. The kit contained extras of all the rings, which was great because this was my first chainmaile project and I suffered from the dreaded death grip. I have just ordered another kit to make for my sister in law for her Xmas present-she will love it.

I've been making chain maille for about a year and have learned the basic weaves on my own. However, I'd been itching to try the graduated Byzantine necklace for some time and I finally decided to make one just for myself. I've always purchased my rings from you but this is the first of your kits that I've tried. It did not disappoint. As always, your service was excellent, the packaging was beautifully done, and the kit itself was so well put together - you even provided the twisty tie! I'm a technical writer in real life and I was impressed by how well-written and easy-to-follow the instructions were. I especially liked the extra notes for getting through the few tricky bits - though they weren't very tricky after all. You did a wonderful job of working out the transitions between ring sizes. And the result is beautiful! So substantial yet so delicate at the ends. I've worn it it every day since I finished it. I'm sure I'll be ordering some kit packs in the future. Thank you!
I just got my first kit from urban maille after looking at this site for ages. I have done a bit of chain maille before, but always thought that these kits were far too difficult for me. I was really blown away by this beautiful kit and the box itself is lovely. I am very impressed. Once the kids are back in school I am looking forward to spending a few enjoyable hours making this necklace. I am sure to purchase more kits from you (once my bank balance allows it again..…) I have now finished this wonderful necklace and I must say I am very proud of it. This was a fun project that was easy to make. I love being able to make the necklace the exact right size for me. The instructions are well written and I didn't have any trouble with moving to the smaller ring sizes.
