Rings by the Weave Inch
Box Chain Inchpacks
About Choosing the Gauge
16g and 18g round rings are generally the easiest rings to weave, so they're usually the best sizes for learning a new weave and for beginners.
Tiny 26g and 24g rings are challenging to weave, as are heavy 12g and 10g rings, and all shaped rings (square, diamond, etc.) so we recommend avoiding those until you're an experienced mailler.
Prices shown below are per inch of chain.
About This Weave
Skillset: Apprentice
Weave Difficulty: Easy if you know Byzantine
Box Chain is Byzantine with a step left out. While Byzantine's pattern is 2-2-2-Fold, Box Chain is 2-2-Fold. That little tweak completely changes the way the rings fit together, though, so Box Chain requires rings of a higher aspect ratio than Byzantine.
We teach Box Chain as a variation of Byzantine, so you must already know Byzantine for our instructions to make sense.
