Approx. Count per ozt is the approximate number of rings in a troy ounce.

1-4 each is the price of each troy ozt of rings when buying 1 to 4 troy ounces at a time.

5 or More Discount is the price of each troy ozt of rings when buying 5 or more troy ounces at a time.

Width is the measured width of the chain in millimeters.

Flex is the approximate inside diameter of the smallest circle that can be made with this chain... which tells you how flexible the chain is, in case we don't yet have a photo available.

Tested shows the test results for this weave in this ring size by metal.
SS = Sterling Silver
CP = Copper
AG = Argentium
PDS = Palladium Sterling
PTS = Platinum Sterling

A strike through like this CP means that the weave/ring size combination doesn't work in copper. Look for a neighboring ring size to be recommended for copper, instead.

Each kit on this page is like a class in a box and teaches one of our three basic chain weaves: Flower Chain, 3-in-3 Chain and Byzantine. No experience is needed to complete any kit on this page.

Each of these kits contains all the supplies needed to complete a bracelet up to 9.5" (24.13cm) long: sterling rings, a sterling clasp, instructions in the Notebook Project format, a ring tool and a couple of little extras. You'll need two pair of smooth jawed jewelers' pliers such as those featured in our Tools section.

The boxed set of 3 Beginning Weave Kits (bottom of this page) includes all the rings, all the clasps and all the instructions that come with all three of the beginning weave kits, plus a ring tool, a pair of flatnose pliers and a pair of chainnose pliers (choose your brand), and a sunshine polishing cloth. That's everything you'll need.

The Apprentice Guide

The Apprentice's Guide to Maille Construction & Jewelry Design teaches basic skills, including how to close rings properly. It's available both as a free download and in Notebook Project format and you'll need it prior to starting your first Beginning Weave Kit.
