Approx. Count per ozt is the approximate number of rings in a troy ounce.

1-4 each is the price of each troy ozt of rings when buying 1 to 4 troy ounces at a time.

5 or More Discount is the price of each troy ozt of rings when buying 5 or more troy ounces at a time.

Width is the measured width of the chain in millimeters.

Flex is the approximate inside diameter of the smallest circle that can be made with this chain... which tells you how flexible the chain is, in case we don't yet have a photo available.

Tested shows the test results for this weave in this ring size by metal.
SS = Sterling Silver
CP = Copper
AG = Argentium
PDS = Palladium Sterling
PTS = Platinum Sterling

A strike through like this CP means that the weave/ring size combination doesn't work in copper. Look for a neighboring ring size to be recommended for copper, instead.

This Florentine Ornament Drape makes the difference between a plain glass Christmas ball and a family heirloom. The delicate looking -- but actually quite sturdy -- crystal and precious metal net is easily moved to a different base ornament or removed for tumble polishing or storage. On the tree, the crystals and precious metals catch the light and throw it around like shiny, shiny Christmas magic. The year I made an heirloom ornament like these for each family I'm close to was the most popular I've ever been at Christmas... even with those who are more difficult to please. (They don't know who they are, but you do and we all have them, don't we?)

This is the second kit in our KitWorks series, which is designed to give you the freedom to choose each component of your kit individually. For this kit, we offer 3 ring choices, 3 wire choices, 3 small bead choices, 3 headpin choices and one drop. Mix and match any way you like, even skipping items in favor of using materials you already have. You'll need to order a ring pack and you'll need to order instructions (the first time); all the other components are available if you need them but you're welcome to use your own, if you don't. The instructions cannot be purchased alone; they require a matching ring pack (so you'll find them on the ring pack page) but that is the only order requisite.

Materials Required to make 1 Ornament Drape:

1 Ring Pack in the metal of your choice
1 Wire Pack in the metal of your choice (or about 8ft of your own 20g round wire)
1 Small Bead Pack (or 72 3mm-4mm beads of your own that will fit a 20g wire)
1 Drop Bead Pack (or 6 drops of your own that will fit a 20g wire)
1 Headpin Pack in the metal of your choice (or 6 20g headpins of your own, at least 1" in length)

1 standard glass Christmas ornament, available wherever ornaments are sold.

All of these items (except the glass ball) are available individually and with options, below.

About the Kit...

This is the second kit in our KitWorks series. Kit items are listed and priced separately so rather than one price and no choices, you choose what you like to create your own learning experience. That does leave some room for error so please read our recommendations (below) prior to making your choices.

The Florentine Ornament Drape instructions are available in the Notebook Project format. They're 3 pages (front and back) and include 33 instructional photos and a brilliantly rendered 3D diagram.

Each pack (of everything) contains enough to make one ornament drape plus extras for just in case.

Each ornament drape requires one glass Christmas ornament of a standard size
which is not included with the kit.

If you have our Earring Designer Ringset, you�ve already been introduced to some of my scrolling techniques. These instructions are the second installment of my embellishment book and they teach Florentine Scrolling. It's a unique variation on that method of embellishment, but one which lends itself to the use of larger wire and results in a more hand wrought look and feel. Florentine Scrolls can range from fine and delicate to rustic and masculine. They�re a faster, easier alternative to wrapped loops for embellishing chains and they�re probably the cleanest way to put attachment loops on a drilled stone. When you want the look to be all about the stones, this is a great way to go. These two photos illustrate some other ways you might use the skills you'll learn making the Florentine Ornament Drape.

In terms of difficulty, I would consider this beginner level maille as well as beginner level wirework. You don't need any particular previous experience because the instructions are quite thorough, but this will be challenging (and tiring to your hands) if you haven't done any wirework before.

Although you're welcome to purchase ring packs without instructions, we don't sell instructions without ring packs. Instructions are automatically deleted from any order without a matching ring pack.
